No PS4 Hardware shown so good or bad?

It seems a bit silly to me to unveil a product but then not to show the product itself. I mean yes it is all about the new software but come on? I suppose a reveal of the actual design closer to the release date could regenerate interest after the initial surge but still all seems a bit odd to me...
