Is there a HDMI problem with Intel HD Graphics 4000?

I bought a 2012 Macbook Air 13in that came with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and I have a lot of problems while using a Mini Display Port to HDMI. I have tried different cables and adapters. My 2011 13in Macbook Pro with a Intel HD 3000 running either OSX or Windows 8 has no problems at all. Sometimes I have to cycle through my inputs on my TV until it finally catches the video from my the Macbook Air, at times I have to cycle like 20 times for to work. I don't know if the graphics processor is even the cause but when I looked it up a few months ago many people on different forums believed that is what was causing it. I decided to go ahead and sell it this week and keep using my Macbook Pro but I want a similar Ultrabook type laptop. When I started looking it seems that pretty much all of them use the same Intel 4000 and I think some people did have the same HDMI problem. I have my eye on some Asus laptops that have good rating and come with all the features that I want like USB 3.0, SSD, HDMI, etc. I would rather have a Macbook and I noticed that the 15in MacBook Pro with Retina has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory, I wonder if this laptop would have the same problem or not.

Can anybody help me out here? Please.
