Why isn't there a creep-free dating app for women?
When Blendr launched in 2011, it was branded as a heterosexual alternative to Grindr — the wildly popular location-based dating app for the gay community. More than a year later, however, it appears that Grindr's founders have been unable to replicate their success among straight singles, underscoring what the New Yorker's Ann Friedman sees as a fundamental problem with dating apps geared toward women. "If an app for 'straight' people is to get anywhere close to Grindr’s level of success, women have to not just join out of curiosity," Friedman writes. "They have to actually use it."
