The Ultimate iPhone Drop Test
The Loop has a referenced this story about an iPhone dropping 2000 feet while a guy was paragliding and the iPhone came out unscathed. Mind you that the iPhone's fall was broken by the snow it landed in, but still impressive. He located the iPhone using the "Find My iPhone" feature along with an extremely detailed image from Apple maps (as the owner of the phone points out). There was also a simple case on the phone, but no mention of who manufactures that case. It certainly was not an Otterbox case.
However, the one thing I do not understand is how a phone on the top of a mountain was in range of a cellular data tower to be able to transmit its location. They must have some good coverage in Draper, Utah.
