Is Apple starting to suffer from too many SKUs?

One thing Steve Jobs was pretty firm about was the idea of limiting consumer choice. Too many products and too much choice paralyzes the consumer, and ultimately they don't buy anything. This was one of the greatest problems under Gil Amelio's Apple, and Steve Jobs fixed this when he returned in 97.

Is Apple starting to go down the road of too many SKUs?

1) a 3.5 inch iPhone 4s, a 4inch iPhone 5, and now talks of a possible 5inch iPhone +

2) a 10inch iPad with retina, a 7inch iPad Mini (not too mention the iPad 2 is still being sold)

3) Not too mention the Retina iPad now comes in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB (with and without wifi, black and white)...that is 16 possible configurations!

Is this the start of a new trend at Apple?
