An endless progression of sequels can steadily erode what made an original great, as ideas are exhausted and bigger budgets make for fewer risks. Technological advancement can erase the visceral thrill of action, substituting complex gadgetry for raw skill and danger. But sometimes, you get to see Vin Diesel drive a muscle car through an exploding cargo jet. After an initial Super Bowl trailer, a longer look at Fast and Furious 6 has been released, presenting what's essentially a hyper-condensed, three-minute action movie. The filmmakers quickly explain a number of crucial plot points — for one thing, Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's characters will go up against "an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers" — but we're fairly sure that's mostly to allow our brains to dispense with speculation and focus more fully on the glorious barrage of set pieces provided.
