Kickstarter launched to secure funding to build a real life Death Star!
A Kickstarter has been launched to secure funding to build a fully functioning open-source Death Star.
In November 2012 the people of the USA petitioned the US government to ask them to secure the funding to build a Death Star. The petition exceeded the required 25,000 signatures to elicit a formal response. Obama’s administration declined to agree to build it but explained the primary reason as being the financial cost (as well as not having any intention to blow up planets.)
But the plan hasn’t been forgotton. Gnut is looking to secure £20,000,000 to build a Death Star which he says is because:
"We need to protect ourselves from threats far far away so lets build a death star."
If the full amount is secured he will provide further plans. To actually construct it there is a stretch goal of £543,000,000,000,000,00 which is equivalent to the $850,000,000,000,000,000 the US government said it cost to build a functioning Death Star. So far over £73,000 has been raised with 53 days to go. Gnut from Leicestershire UK has previously pledged to 178 projects.
Now maybe it’s time to create a Kickstarter to keep Piers Morgan in the USA…
