Several high-profile websites have been affected today by malware notices in Google Chrome, including The San Francisco Chronicle, The Boston Globe, The Verge, DeviantArt, and even Google's own YouTube. The warning says that "content from us.bernerverein.ch" is to blame, and instructs users not to proceed to the affected websites. It's not clear what the cause of the issue is, but it could be related to a similar outbreak of malware warnings last week. Reports from web users started to trickle in on Twitter earlier this afternoon, and some users identified the warnings as early as Saturday morning.

Today marks the second time in less than a week that major sites have been affected by Google Chrome malware warnings. Several sites, including the New York Times and The Washington Post, were blocked by Google Chrome after advertising network NetSeer was compromised by a malware attack. After Google recognized that hack, it placed all the sites that served ads through the network under quarantine. Today's issue could be the result of a similar attack on an ad network — we've asked Google to comment on the issue and will update you when we receive more information.
