windows and high res screens

hi there tribe

i got a small tech question

so i been reading that the UI of the desktop on the surface pro high res screen is almost unusable due to the fact that everything is too small

and using windows native solution for that problem is resulting a blurry icons and text...

so in order to fix this are we looking at "re write your apps for retina" kind of situation where special version of the desktop programs have to be developed and optimized for high res screens ? or is there another simpler solution are looking into applying ?
