Help! Nexus 7 Screen crack.

So I have had my Nexus 7 for about 3 months now, and I have to admit I adore it. I was skeptical at first, but I quickly got to love it and basically never look at my phone anymore. It comes near enough everywhere with me.

The other day, there I was, playing quietly on my tablet at a friends, when the pizza arrived. My friend went to get the pizza and I put the tablet down on the coffee table. After I had eaten the pizza, I picked up the tablet to finish my game and, disaster, 3 huge cracks across the screen, all emanating from the edge of the left side. It was in it's case (as it always is), no one went near it, the only movement between me closing the case and opening it again was putting it on the table (and I hardly threw it down).

After a bit of a search online other people have had this issue, but it is hard to tell if this is a big issue or a vocal few (who may have actually broken their tablet via mistreatment rather than a potential manufacturing fault).

Has anyone else had a similar issue and if so, did you get it fixed under the warranty (as I've heard ASUS won't repair screens under warranty)?
