Using WIN8 with an SSD and running out of room? Read this...
I was manually updating WIN8 and it ran into an error as it said I had not enough HDD space on my main C: drive which is a 128GB SSD...well I then proceeded to try and figure out what is consuming so much space...
Manually looking in file explorer will not tell you what is going on so I downloaded a program called windirstat for the desktop. This showed me that hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys were consuming about 30GB each!!!!!I have 32GB of RAM...
after reading a bit I discovered that the pagefile is not necessary with SSD's and if you let Windows manage it, it will consume as much or more than your system memory, which in my case is a lot.
Follow this guide: http://windows8themes.org/what-is-the-pagefile-sys-and-how-to-delete-it-in-windows-8.html
If you are not using hibernation, you don't need this file either...follow this guide: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/15140/what-is-hiberfil.sys-and-how-do-i-delete-it/Can't believe more people haven't run into this...
