Am I the only one who doesn't like Game of Thrones? (Both TV and books)
I feel like i’m the only one here who doesn’t like Game of Thrones (or any fantasy for that matter – I fell asleep through the LOTR: Two Towers lol) :$ I bought season 1 on Blu Ray (i’m in the UK here btw) and It just… didn’t do anything for me… Just didn’t seem that special to me, I can’t connect to the characters. Then again i’ve never been interested in any historical-type stuff. I remember watching HBO’s Rome on the TV and sort of being all “meh” about it. Ah well. Sci-fi is OK for me, just not fantasy.
I should point out here that I only liked Harry Potter because I like the way JK Rowling tells stories, and because the characters were my age (well a bit older than me at the time) when I finished reading the last book. But that’s the only fantasy that I really liked tbh, although that was different because (despite the wizard world being in a cod-medieval (god I hate cod-medieval sooo much. Talk about repression of science) place with B&W (albeit moving) photos, the Muggle parts were set in the late 20th century.
I think is cos it's set on a different world to earth that explains I can't identify with it. At least Star Trek is set on Earth's future, basically, Whereas star wars is set on different worlds entirely. Game Of Thrones is set on a completely different world I believe, so I just... can't get into it. Everyone seems to be ranting about how awesome it is and i'm just like... meh.
