Facebook turns on comment replies for Pages, will be default starting July 10th

After experimenting with the feature for months, Facebook is today introducing threaded Page replies, an addition the company says will improve conversations across the social network. "You and your readers will have the ability to reply directly to comments left on your Page content and start conversation threads, which will make it easier for you to interact directly with individual readers and keep relevant conversations connected," writes Vadim Lavrusik in a post announcing the rollout.

Even better, Facebook says replies carry another benefit: the most engaging and active discussions will automatically rise to the top of your Page. Conversation threads may not be ordered the same way from one user to the next — a number of variables determine which conversations are given priority. Any thread that contains input from your friends is more likely to be near the top, for instance. Thankfully everyone should see spam comments fall to the bottom of the Page.

As of now, the decision to enable replies is up to each Page owner and can be accomplished via the admin panel. But it won't be optional for long: beginning July 10th, replies and conversation threads will be turned on for all pages and popular accounts with over 10,000 followers. These changes apply to the desktop Facebook experience for now, with mobile support due later.
