Video Playback in The Verge App

It doesn't play in true fullscreen-- the notification/status bar up top remains. Look:

I mean, it's cool that the icons fade out when you're watching the video, but it's still unsightly and bothersome. So much so that whenever I want to watch a video, I'll go to the same article via my mobile browser and watch it from there.

It's a minor annoyance, sure, but it would be nice if small details like this were given attention.
