Office-like apps for Android tablets? And tablet purchasing advice.
Hey Android Army, I'm strongly considering getting a Nexus 7 32GB for my wife. The primary motivation for this purchase is the need to view .doc, .pdf and .ppt files on the go, with perhaps the need to edit becoming a possibility in the future. What are some good apps for this (both free and paid)? How do they stack up against the iWork apps on iPad (which I like)?
Misc. thoughts surrounding my purchase:
My wife and I both really want the iPad mini, but the Nexus 7 looks like the best bang for the buck. However, I also fear that being so close to I/O it'll be obsolete a little too quickly and feel like I wasted my money if I had only been able to hold out a bit longer (I have to get it this week, since she has exams coming up soon).
The 7" Galaxy Tab 2 looks like it could be a wild card. I've seen it for under $200 and it has expandable storage. My father has the same device, but I haven't been to impressed with it: the UI crashes often and it doesn't feel snappy. However if I'm not mistaken it comes with Polaris Office bundled in (which I liked on my previous Android phone), and it doesn't seem to be purchasable on the Play Store.
So, any and all of your thoughts are welcome!
