Google brings Field Trip local guide app to iPhone, iPod touch
Field Trip, one of Google's lesser-known apps that steers you toward nearby points of interest, has made its way to iOS. Available for iPhone and iPod touch only (sorry, iPad explorers), Field Trip will notify you when you're in spitting distance of fascinating destinations. As is the case on Android, you're able to pick from a variety of interests including architecture, historic places, food / drinks, outdoor art, and "obscure" places of Interest. There's also a vehicle mode that automatically detects when you’re driving and offers prompts as you approach destinations. Google's timing is certainly curious, with Field Trip's iOS debut coinciding with today's Facebook event. Nonetheless, you can download the free app from Apple's App Store now.
