To get back one more time to the surface lap argument
I might just be stupid but no one seems to mention that you should use the on screen keyboard when you have the surface on your lap. Not only is it a "mobile" position to be in i.e. not at a desk but it also works truly well just like on competing tablets. When I work it is mostly at school or at my desk. For casual typing like this I just use the on screen keyboard and can type just fine. This is just not an argument or an issue, it might even be more comfortable to keep the tablet on lap instead of a warm laptop with a weird inclination. Just my 2 cents.
