Looking for a cheap/simple laptop, recommendations?

I use a desktop for work/play, and since getting a tablet haven't had the need for a laptop. However, at the end of the month I'm going on a trip where the main activity will be photography and I need a way to download and backup photos from my cards at the end of the day.

I used to use 'photobanks' when travelling but nowadays it looks like I can save money and buy a 13"-14" laptop for under £300 that will have a large enough hard drive and allow me to carry out tasks (like reviewing and curating images or updating my blog from the road) that I wouldn't otherwise have. My camera bag has a slot for a laptop and the added weight won't make much difference.

I've been looking around and two laptops have caught my eye:

1. Lenovo Ideapad S400
2. Acer Aspire 4810T

As you can see I'm not looking for cutting edge tech or styling, just something reliable with a 320-500gb HD. The Acer has Win7 but I'm up for trying Win8. Smaller than 13" screen laptops seem to be more expensive or have SSDs too small to use for backup.

I would appreciate any insights/recommendations anyone has to this end of the market.

Thanks!
