AT&T HTC First Ships with an Unlockable Bootloader

Well, it appears the HTC First is a bit more of a "trojan unicorn" than originally stated. According to TRF-Inferno, a user on the xda-developers forum, the HTC First ships with an unlockable bootloader, no rooting or complicated workarounds required. This comes as a surprise considering that less than a year ago, AT&T's HTC One X was denied the same treatment. The unlock process takes advantage of HTC's developer portal, and opens the door to the development of custom ROMs for the First. However, with mid-range specs and competition from flagships such as the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4, it remains to be seen if the developer community will take to the device.
