Mostly harmless.... Has anyone else thought about turning their Nexus 7 into a 'Hitchhiker's guide to Earth'?

A long time dream of mine has been to have my own Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. So what if I can't leave the planet? I thought I would just scale the concept back to include only Earth. Besides, the entry for Earth in the HG2G was always a bit lacking in my opinion.

So toady, after attempting on several different platforms, I'm restarting my effort on Android (ironic). My objective is to be able to do as much as possible offline. To this end, I've installed Google translate with the offline language packs for a couple of language I speak badly and one I don't speak at all, but wish I did, an offline dictionary (with mixed results) and e-book software for a few books I like to have with me.

The biggest part of my experiment has, in recent years been focused on finding a way to download Wikipedia. I'm trying out a couple of apps for this, namely GWiki, Wiki Encyclopaedia +, and WikiDroyd

Yes, I usually have online access, but I still find having information actually with me (rather than in the cloud) useful.

Has anyone else tried this? What are your thoughts.

Don't Panic
