Weekly Critique Thread: April 28 - May 4 - Closed

For the weekly critique threads, there are 3 simple rules we hope you'll follow:

1) Before posting a photo, please take the time to comment on a couple of photos in the thread, giving constructive criticism or explaining what you like about the photo. You do not have to go in depth about what you like and dislike. You can just simply state what you liked about the photo. We really want involvement from posters, not 'one-and-done-ers.'

2) We would prefer you post 1 photo, then wait 3 days before posting a second photo. Also, please do not post multiple photos in one post (or post multiple photos in a row). Allow others to join in as well. Post photos as a reply to the OP and post critiques as replies to photos. This should keep things nice and clean.

3) No need to explain your shot. However, please list the settings you used, if available. These settings are:

  • Focal Length (If you post a 35mm equivalent, please make special note of it in your post)
  • Aperture
  • Shutter Speed
  • ISO
  • Camera Model

Do not worry if you're not experienced in photography, the aim of this thread is to learn from each other.

Here are two posts about how to post images from imgur or Flickr. Click on those links for short and painless tutorials.

Have fun, and try to play nice!

Couple of things:

I think it would be beneficial that even if we don't comment on every photo, we at least recommend every photo. Some photos get way more interaction than others and, really, that's just how its going to be. But to further our interactions with each other, in even the smallest way, a Recommend to acknowledge someone's post, I think, would be a great idea. Now, you don't have to, it's just a suggestion, but that's what I'll be doing going forward.

Also, I'm wondering if we want to make critique threads run Mondays through Fridays. Most of the photos get posted within the first 3 days and then its just comments for a few days after that. Occasionally we'll have more photos posted, but not often. A 5 day schedule would tighten things up and the weekends are pretty dead here anyway. Let me know what y'all think!
