New iTunes MiniPlayer - New design language?

Apple just released the new version of iTunes, 11.0.3, bringing a brand new MiniPlayer UI. Totally different from the old version. Here it is:

It also expands:

In comparison, here's the old MiniPlayer:

If the rumors about Apple moving engineers from OSX team to iOS team just to finish iOS 7 in time are true, why would they care to update the MiniPlayer with an UI that would require a new change in just a few weeks? Does that makes sense? Am I the only to think that's *the* new look MiniPlayer will carry for the next versions? The look OSX will show on 10.9.

Looks like we're going to see even more iOS-fication of OSX.
