Coming back to iOS! App support on older devices.

Two years ago my last iOS device, an iPod Touch 2G I got in 2008, suddenly stopped functioning. Since then, I haven't owned a single iOS device. It's been a couple of years with my Android phone and my click-wheel iPod, so I've missed out on a lot of the newer iOS experiences.

In the next few days I'm picking up a cheap 32GB third generation iPod Touch to replace my faithful third gen Nano. As I'm aware, it only supports up to iOS 5.1.1. Leaving me not only out of luck when it comes to iOS 6, but soon to be iOS 7 as well - but I don't care about that.

What I want to know is, what is the app selection going to look like for me? Am I going to find most apps won't support my device? Or should I be just fine? As it is, I only want this for music and a couple of games.
