To give users a better understanding of what people are watching, but also where they are watching it, Google has launched a new Trends Map feature to "surface popular videos in real time, and provide context for trends" in the US. The map can be toggled to show what's popular with men or women, and display videos trending between different age groups. Videos are displayed based on the number of shares and views they receive in the past 12 - 24 hours, giving users an idea of what is popular on social networks and which videos have been viewed the most in that time — currently True Blood and Dexter teaser trailers. Google says the service is currently US-only, but asks non-US users to "stay tuned for future updates and explorations."
