Desperate time for new gamers

Sony and Microsoft always say how much they care about gamers. From a point of view of a person who wants to buy a gaming console right now, I don't think they do.

Firstly, it was obvious for some time that we won't get a chance to buy the new version of Xbox and Playstation anytime soon. Of course, developers need time to prepare their blockbusters. But no release dates? I mean, come on, Sony, you could at least show the damn console.

If you want to become a gamer right now, you have two options:

  1. To buy Playstation 3 or Xbox 360. But then the holiday season comes, the new hardware is out, and game developers eventually forget all about your console, so you'll have to buy a new one. This means you're wasting your money.
  2. To wait for the release of Xbox One or Playstation 4. This means a lot of waiting without gaming. And there's going to be a lack of games for some time. Also, some of your favourite games won't be released for those new consoles (EA Sports said they're not releasing any NHL game for the new hardware this year). This means you're wasting your time.

It's ridiculous! But maybe it's not them, it's me. I'm an Apple user. I'm used to keynotes where the company gives you a date to long for. And when they don't have a new piece of hardware prepared for a release, they keep their mouth shut, so you don't have to feel bad for buying their product. You don't have to live with the feeling that the hardware you just pulled out of a box is obsolete.
