For the average person, what is the appeal now of Xbox One?

The relatively small pool of exclusive titles, including the tired Halo franchise failed to impress at Microsoft's press conference today. Honestly, Sony won half the battle with the $399 price tag on the entry-level PS4 and put Microsoft in a corner from a marketing perspective. Even while Sony the company ails, Playstation is still a remarkably valuable brand with a lot of appeal to consumers all over the world, even if they skipped the last generation.

The lack of backwards compatibility for both consoles is a major detriment for both of them, in my view, but it also allows the underdog, Sony, to be on a more level playing field with Microsoft. For the average person thinking about buying a new console this fall, what would compel them to buy an Xbox One at this point?
