The Latest Update To Google's Storage "Solution"

Quite a few years ago, I was searching for a way to back up all my photos to one place. I tried Flickr, and then I went with Google's Picasa Web. I paid a small sum (~$25?) for something around 80 gigs of space. I stored all my photos, around 60 gigs worth. And then I forgot about it.

I moved onto Crashplan, leaving my old photo backups in place just in case, but turning off any payments. Google was fine with that - they said they'd continue to store my old photos, I just couldn't upload new ones.

Fast forward to today. Flickr has made free a terabyte of space for each user, and Google has said a major "**** you" to me. This is what my Gmail greeted me with today:

What the hell. You're Google. And Yahoo is being the bigger man? I only get 16 gigs? Are we still in 2009?!

I guess you really want me to delete my lousy 60 gigs worth of photos from your servers. I love you, but this is some prime bull****. Helllooooo Flickr.
