If you can, just watch the WWDC 2013 session videos to get the "big picture" of iOS 7

I won't speak about anything specific since this stuff is under NDA, but if you have access to this year's WWDC session videos and you're interested in getting the big picture of iOS 7, just watch them.

And if you have time for just one, please watch "What's New in iOS User Interface Design". It's really good.

iOS is much more than just some new (controversial) icons on the home screen. A lot of thinking had been done when developing the new design language for iOS, much more than you possibly can imagine.

And yes, it really brought my excitement back for iOS. The transition from iOS 6 to iOS 7 is much like the transition from OS9 to OSX. There's a lot going on under the hood, so don't get too stuck on the icon design which is likely to change until the official release.
