If you were going to fund a very very very expensive space mission, how would you do it?

As the report we published today illustrates, the future of private space missions has some freaky funding going on. Mars One is going the reality TV angle...and now the Sunjammer is going to propel into space filled with ashes and memes, and possibly stamped with corporate logos.

Both ideas are fairly weird, or at least very imaginative. Neither of them, I think, is particularly viable in the long-term (how many seasons of Mars TV can we really watch?) — although corporate logos aren't a bad idea. But does anyone have a better idea? If NASA can't fork out the millions of dollars necessary to push space exploration forward, how do we get creative to get it funded? Or, at least, how would you try to get the cash to make a mission happen?
