Nexus 10 + Keyboard a sufficient replacement for laptop?

I recently had my laptop stolen before my exams and I've been using an older one on loan until I can get another one. But with the current advancements in the tech world I'm thinking that I might be able to use a tablet to replace my laptop. I'm a university student studying Marine Biology. In terms of productivity, the most I would demand of my tablet is the ability to create and edit documents and a spreadsheet every now and again.

I also want to give the Android platform a try and this would be my first tablet. I think the Nexus 10 and a good BT Keyboard might suffice. But does anyone else have any suggestions? Or better advice?

(Note: I'm also a musician, so mobility is a big factor here.)
