What improvements do people want in the desktop?

I keep seeing in almost every Windows 8.1/Blue news article the same thing:

"They've not announced any improvements to the desktop though!"

Now, I'd like to think I'm a pretty savvy Windows user, I've worked in IT and my entire career has been computer based so I know my way around. Windows 8 brought a lot of great new features to the desktop and answered a lot of the issues I'd had previously but I can't really think of anything else I want. Multiple monitors has been fixed, the ribbon on explorer is much better (imo), it's faster, file transfers are more useful and manageable...

So, what exactly are people expecting on the desktop side? What features is it lacking?

The only two I can think of are:

1) The HiDPI scaling, but that's already definitely coming.
2) Ability to password protect folders.

Beyond that, I'm very happy with the Windows 8 desktop, I don't need nor want a Start Menu or Button so what's missing for you guys that aren't happy the desktop doesn't appear to be getting much love in 8.1?
