Subjective Vs Objective performance
A little story:
In December last year I sold my 2008 24in iMac (3.06 Ghz Core2Duo, 4Gb) and bought a new 27 in (2.9Ghz. i5, 32Gb, Fusion Drive).
As you might expect, it was quite a lot faster. Smooth, powerful but it wasn't "OMFG this is fast!"
Last week I bought a new 2013 Macbook Air (1.3Ghz i5, 8Gb) to replace my 2011 (1.7Ghz i5, 8Gb) Air and, of course, I expected a bit more performance but mainly the attraction was the battery life.
Thing is, I am totally blown away by its performance. It is total effortless doing everything I need to do, particularly when handling video and presentation files. I have even put WoW on it just for the hell of it and it runs it in "Good" level comfortably.
I dont kno if it is the SSD speed having a profound effect or if it was because my expectation wasn't as high but this has been a fantastic upgrade madeeven better as my wife is happy with my 2011 Air and I sold her 2009 for £350 which is great since it cost £899 4 years ago
(Oh, and the battery life is amazing)
