The Moto X smartphone is hardly a secret anymore — Motorola's CEO confirmed that the phone would be made in the USA and coming soon back in May — but the company just dropped a tantalizing new detail in a new newspaper ad that was revealed by Ad Age. The advertisement plays up the "built in the US" angle but also claims that the Moto X will be "the first smartphone you can design yourself." Unfortunately, there's no other clue whatsoever as to what that means — will potential buyers simply be able to customize the phone's exterior, or will Motorola have a more bold scheme of letting users customize its specs as well?

Judging by this major advertising push — the ad will appear in tomorrow's editions of The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal — we probably won't have to wait too long to find out more about Motorola's mystery phone. It's also the first time we're seeing Motorola's colorful new logo, which we exclusively revealed last week. Motorola says the phone is coming soon, so hopefully it won't be long until we hear more about its first true collaboration with Google.

Update: Motorola has launched a page where you can sign up to be notified about future Moto X news.
