Is a lockscreen really necessary (aka "BUTT-DIAL" RISK??)

Has anyone actually experienced a "pocket dial" with a smartphone, after turning off the lockscreen? Seems a lot less likely to happen than with an old-school keypad phone, no(?)

Even given the benefit of lockscreen widgets and app shortcuts, the lockscreen seems generally just to get in the way (esp. since I can't pull up the "recent apps" menu from there) -- so I'm thinking, why not ditch it, and go straight to the good stuff?

(Of course, this is assuming you don't need or choose to use a pw lock for security.)
