I think Samsung did the industry a favor by "cheating" the benchmarks
If it really is that possible to "cheat" in a benchmark, it is quite possible for other smartphone manufacturers to exploit these benchmarks as well. Then I can imagine smartphone buyers that really care about specs to not take benchmarks so seriously because they are paranoid of the cheats. Then tech sites will realize how useless benchmark tools are and will start conducting real performance tests on a per game basis to see how well the GPU performs in its "throttled" or usual conditions.
Look how video cards and gaming laptops are reviewed. Sure the benchmark scores are there but we also see how well the GPU performs in Crysis 3 and other games like Civilization V.
So if future smartphones start getting that treatment, that should be uhhh good for smartphone buyers right?
