Where are you Nexus 7 2?!

I've been in the market for a new tablet for a while now, and I've decided that the ideal screen size for me is somewhere between the Nexus 7 and iPad Mini. My credit card has been locked and loaded for the 2013 Nexus 7 since Google I/O. But with every day that passes without any info about it, it seems less and less likely to be released this summer.

I'm not putting much stock in that customer service rep "leak" since I doubt those reps know much about upcoming products anyway (else we would've seen TONS more leaked info by now).

If Google does end up releasing it in the fall to compete with the iPad Mini, then they seriously blew it. If they released it now, it'd clearly be the best tablet in that form factor due to the high resolution screen. But once the retina iPad Mini is out there's no way I'd buy a Nexus 7 over it. I love android but there is no denying that iPads are superior to android tablets at this time.

I can't be the only one that feels this way, right? I think one of the reasons the Nexus 7 was a success was that they got the jump on the iPad Mini. I don't understand why they wouldn't want to maintain that advantage going into the 2nd generation of these two tablets.

Looks like I'll be getting a Mini this fall, along with likely a large number of others in the market for a tablet. Sorry Google, you shouldn't have waited.
