The 'Other' Question About SkyDrive
There's already a post about what SkyDrive should be renamed to. What I'd like to discuss here is the trademark battle itself. I posted this in the actual Verge article and it might be a good jumping off point for the whole thread:
I kind of feel sorry for them now. And yes I realise they are a gigantic corporate entity but still… They seem to get nothing but negative press. In most cases I think it's their own fault but here I think Sky are being greedy and unreasonable. I wonder how this all kicked off. Did someone in Sky’s legal team with too much free time decide after a long brainstorming session that it’d be good to sue MS? I’m wondering if there isn’t more to this than meets the eye… MS is acquiescing like this isn’t a huge knock to their brand image and identity. It’s almost like they don’t want to call it SkyDrive anymore either.
