Non convertible touch PC's and laptops. Any good?

Personally think a lappy and a tab should be two separate devices and to some extent I see the value of convertible laptops like the Yoga. But what about the laptops which aren't convertible and still have touch screens?

Isn't it purely idiotic to raise your hand and start touching your display when you have to only move your finger to use your touchpad? It doesn't seem comfortable and a lot of work.

You can extend that to samsung's "smart" tv's which don't seem that smart after all. Waving your hand like a fool to switch channels when you have a nice rubber buttoned remote which you don't even have to look at to control and just move your thumb to get right where you want.

Anyway, what do you guys think?
