Can't select native resolution after upgrading to Windows 8? & few other questions
This is probably really simple, I just installed Windows 8 on a machine but I can't select the resolution of the monitor which is 1080p. 1600x1200 is the highest I can select and it has 1024 x768 as recommended in the resolution settings.
The monitor is 1080p and 1920x1080 resolution was selected when the PC was on Windows 7. The PC is a generic AMD Athlon(tm)64 x2 dual core processor 5000+ PC that was previously on Vista (it had 32 bit Windows Vista so I upgraded it to 32bit W8, should I have used 64bit?). When searching IE on the Windows 8 pc I came across something about uninstalling the deplay device driver and installing windows 7 display driver but after navigating around windows 8 and downloading google I lost the page with that info and all my other searches gave me different results.
Hopefully some of you guys know how to sort this out. I find Windows 8 strange so far, noticed that I couldn't change the brightness when I first set it up the screen was really bright. I had to sort that out by changing the settings on the actual monitor.
