No interest in "hardcore" gaming? I think not.
The podcast once again left with the impression Nilay and certain others aren't gamers and perhaps aren't best equipped to comment on it as a whole. They're always peddling the line that casual gaming has took over. Maybe it has in terms of volume, but everything I've seen points towards casual gaming being in ADDITION to the swathes of people who play PC & console games.
I like the odd mobile game, but when I'm at home I want a level of immersive, whizz bang video/audio/control splendour that mobile, currently, is totally incapable of delivering. Wouldn't surprise me if a gaming enabled Apple TV was indeed a big success....but does that means the likes of The Last of Us, Dishonored, Diablo 3 blah blah are suddenly going to disappear? Doubt it. Maybe equivalent games will eventually appear on Apple TV like devices years down the line, but the idea that the future belongs exclusively to casual, and there'll be no interest in "hardcore" (for want of a better word) is completely wrong imo.
