In one of the tech industry’s most inconsequential legal settlements, Motorola has agreed to stop using the wildly unpopular Xoom brand after getting sued by online payment provider Xoom Corp. That’s correct, someone else had already trademarked the name Xoom. According to a post on The American Lawyer, the two companies reached a confidential settlement that requires Motorola to stop using the disputed name. Hopefully the company can circle its wagons, focus on the future, and find a way out of this catastrophe. At least nobody else has challenged its trademark on Xyboard.
