HTC One and OS X - From iPhone 5 to HTC One
I've been out of the loop for some time regarding Android so I'd like to garner some feedback in regards to the HTC One in regards to the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4. Just some background to this, I have an iPhone 5 but recently I've experienced nothing but constant freezing with the only solution is to take it back to the carrier (who I bought it off) to get fixed/replaced however my iPhone is practically my lifeline so if I do get told that the wait will possibly be a week (or more) rather than an upfront replacement I'm tempted to get an HTC or Samsung Galaxy S4. I also own a Mac (iMac and MacBook Pro both running 10.8.4) so the ability to synchronise with my computer is a must and bad experiences with Kies in the past has left a bitter taste in my mouth towards Samsung (but I could be persuaded if things have improved).
1) Using iCloud services with the HTC One software - what has the experience been like? my main concern is calendaring, contacts and email.
2) HTC Sync Manager - how reliable is it on OS X? I've given it a whirl and no crashes but since I don't have a phone all I can do is navigate around, click on some icons etc. but the feeling I get given that it comes up as a 64bit application that HTC seems to be spending the resource to provide a good experience for OS X users rather than kicking the can down the road as with the case of Kies.
3) Although I have had a look at the Samsung Galaxy S4 the combination of neglecting to support Kies on OS X coupled with the feeling of cheapness has pushed me towards getting an HTC One however I'd like to hear feedback from people who have owned an S4 for a while and what their take on the situation - did their impression improve/become negative after using the S4 for a while.
I'll be up out of bed in around 5 hours so hopefully some feedback will be provided between now and then - thanks in advance for any feedback provided regarding this issue.
