I hope the next Nexus is made of...plastic

Hear me out...

I recently scratched the delicate, chamfered edges on my HTC One...nothing very bad or even all too noticeable, but the scratches are there. It's a pain that I'm sure HTC One and iPhone 5 owners can relate to. Since this happened, I decided to do what I've wanted to do for so long...carry the One without a case or screen protector. It just feels great. But I still carefully set it down, hoping I won't scratch or dent the aluminum back.

Then I look over at the Nexus 7 (2013) that I rarely ever use a case with. I toss this thing around. I set it down on any surface, and I set things in top of it. It still feels premium and it doesn't feel cheap, similar to how the One feels premium and expensive...but it goes a step beyond and it feels so much more durable. Maybe because it really is. Or maybe because the matte back on the Nexus 7 makes me believe it is.

The soft touch back on the Nexus 7 is awesome..it's plastic, but feels like GOOD plastic. It doesn't get slimy and slick like the GS4 or other glossy plastic devices (LG G Pro and G2, I'm looking at you).

And so, I hope the Nexus 4 (2013) or Nexus 5 this year is made of the same material. I think there's a good chance of it happening since the Nexus 4 followed the design of the Nexus 7 (2012). Look at the chrome trim on both, and you can see where I'm coming from.

I want the next Nexus to be unapologetically plastic. Just make it matte and soft touch.
