My take on iOS, Innovation for the sake of Innovation... What for!?
Since Steve Jobs pass away I keep reading the tech press calling iOS stale and not innovative. While true at some extend, personally I think this maybe is a good thing... bare with me, let me elaborate:
-I think innovation, and revolutions are multi-factorial, we live in a society that glorifies personality cult, hence Media and public opinion tend to hyperbolize Personalities: Jobs, Gates, Spielberg etc.. etc.. While I admire S. Jobs, the true is: The smartphone revolution was about to happen, Apple was smart enough to capitalize it, but without the right historical context it would never happen otherwise, Jus like: The PC Desktop Revolution, which lead me to:
-Microsoft owns the Desktop, and they did it with the most stale, boring, and iterative design eeeveeerrr... like the Start menu was what? 15-20 years old.. Guess what people: DONT LIKE CHANGE, outside the Verge and Techcrunch, most people using tech do it because of Utilitarian purpose: for god sake 36% percent of Desktop in the world are still using Win XP.
-There is no worst innovation than the one no one asked for... Windows 8 is rightfully innovative, yet most users out there are screaming for the start button to come back, Don't Fix what Ain't Broken. Innovation should be grounded in a context, innovation for the sake of innovation... I guess that's what Lady Gaga do.
-Yet Apple is indeed iterating really fast with their hardware, the A7 chip and the Fingerprint lector are potential game changers, it is not a 'revolution', but they iterate faster than MS ever did with Windows.
Final thought: as a developer myself I would have fun with an innovative OS in apple devices, I have fun playing around with Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSuse and Android of Late. But I'm aware I'm a tech geek I enjoy this things.. because I do. For my Uncle, and 95% percent of my clients.. they don't give a FUCK, they want what works for them, speaking of mobile: It happens to be iOS.
Sorry if bad spell or engrish, foreign dude here.
