Microsoft's answer to the Chromecast and Airplay.
Apple has had an Apple TV for a while and continues to push Airplay.
Google just recently announced the Chromecast and will continue to push its cross-platform functionality hard.
Where does this leave Microsoft?
Well, given that Windows 8.1 is said to include native Miracast wireless display support and internet sharing... and how heated the fight for the living room is becoming... and given how hard Microsoft is pushing the Xbox One to take over your TV:
I fully expect Microsoft to unveil he ability to stream wirelessly from your Windows 8.1 device (or hopefully any Miracast device) to your Xbox One. This would complete the living room setup, allowing TV content, Xbox Content, and local content to be consumed all on the same device. Xbox One will have Miracast receive capabilities.
Sure, an Xbox isn't as cheap as a Chromecast, or even an Apple TV. But I think it holds more potential then either of those to take over a family's living room.
What do you guys think?
