A Question or Two Regarding the Mac Mini
As a person both fascinated with all things technological and as a professor's aid for the online teaching endorsement program at my university, I'm about to make a move I didn't really expect to (not anytime soon, at least)--I'm about to jump into both of Apple's ecosystems at (roughly) the same time. See, a large part of my job involves crafting all sorts of different guides for my professor, discussing various technologies at seminars (that I lead), and helping his OTE students get connected and become much more intimately familiar with their devices. I know Android well. I know Windows and Windows Phone even better. My relationships with OS X and iOS have been considerably less...intimate.
Anyway, that aside, I've been eyeing the 2.5GHz Mac mini ($599) on Apple's website. It's the perfect compromise--I don't have any need for a full iMac or MacBook, but a Mac mini would be the perfect tool for becoming intimate with OS X (and Ubuntu, actually, as I'd be more comfortable dual booting on a non-primary machine--I like my boot selection-screen free, thanks).
We basically know that Apple intends to refresh its iPad line soon--and I intend to pick-up the 2013 iPad Mini, but news on the Mac front is less rampant.
My questions are these:
1. Do you believe Apple will introduce a new Mac mini at their rumoured event in October?
2. Would it even be worth waiting, or should I just pick up the $599 (2011) version now?
