Create Wi-Fi from Mac, Routers not OK, AP's are.

I'm studying abroad in the UK. Have a Mac and an iPad. No Wi-Fi provided, ethernet only. It's a MBP, so that's no problem. But I'm stuck with an unusable iPad.

I tried to use the built in Internet Sharing features of my Mac to share the ethernet connection - no issues on the Mac's side, but when I try and access it on the iPad my ISP (ASK4) blocks it - saying router detected.

How do I fix that? Is it really that hard to make it look like all my iPad traffic is from my Mac?

Thank you so much for any ideas. I'm here for 3 months, and I don't know if I can live without my iPad.
