Do Gold iPhones Really Sell for Over $10K? UPDATE: $90K
So I was curious how much those gold iPhone 5s models were going for on eBay. I found one with zero bids and a buy-it-now price of $9600+. I thought that guy must be crazy. So I scrolled down the page to find one with actual bids. I then found one with 32 bids going for $2025. I clicked on it and discovered there were 34 bids and it was over $4000, refreshed the page and it was over $5000, refreshed again and it was over $7500, and again at 38 bids it was over $10,000.
I don't know what it is at now, but this is crazy. I figure you can't really do price-pumping on eBay because even if you are selling it to yourself, eBay takes a cut. Is this for real or somebody found a way to create an exagerated sense of demand here?
I like the new gold iPhones as much as the next guy, but when the price gets in the range of a fully-decked-out Mac Pro, then things have gone too far.
UPDATE: The iPhone linked here from eBay sold for over $91,000. The commenter JKDjr points out that this could be money laundering and I think he is correct.
