Are Windows Laptops, Post-Windows 8, Less configurable?
IMO, a disappointing and resounding yes! It appears to me that the "Configure" option has been replaced with the "View Models" option. Dell continues to offer highly configurable mobile workstations, whereas Lenovo offers "models" and HP is stuck in the Windows 7 era for their mobile workstations. Typical business and consumer models are overwhelmingly a "Pick 4".
Given the fact I have always purchased my desktop or laptop devices direct from the OEM, I want what I want and am willing to pay for highly configurable devices to suit my specific needs. Are OEM business models heavily weighted by critical mass projections? Perhaps, sadly, I am todays "outlier".
