Tony Fadell and Nest team become Google's core hardware team
9to5Mac cites TechCrunch about the news that "Google would like Fadell to work on gadgets that make more sense for the company. Will it be a phone or a tablet? It’s unclear for now".
Sp perhaps the reason why Tony Fadell couldn't resist to sell his company to Google is that he will ultimately play a huge role in the design of Google hardware.
I don't know much about Google's plans, and Fadell's involvement in the whole Apple range wasn't that big. However, noting the fact that there was a bit of an outrage when he sold out to Google, it goes to show how much of an asset he is in terms of hardware design. In the end, I guess a positive takeaway from this is that companies looking at a path to better product design are focusing their energy towards people who are Apple-relate, so this goes to show how they dominate in hardware design for consumer products.
